ComplaintCensus

Coverage

A census that won’t show its own coverage and freshness is asking for trust it hasn’t earned. Here is what we’ve actually harvested and classified, how current it is, and — just as important — what we deliberately leave out.

Scale

729,822 public Trustpilot reviews harvested, across 1,911 actively-tracked companies. Of those reviews, 141,240 have been classified as complaints, and 1,288 companies have at least one complaint category that clears our evidence gate and is published as a report.

“Actively-tracked” excludes 1,341 retired slugs whose Trustpilot profile no longer exists — we keep their history for continuity but don’t recount them as coverage.

Freshness

The most recent harvest cycle recorded a run at 2026-09-27 — about 0.2 hours ago. Based on 24,538 consecutive-harvest gaps recorded across the registry, a company is typically re-harvested roughly every 3.0 days — that’s the census’s real full-pass cadence, measured, not asserted.

What we deliberately don’t count

This is the part most trackers leave out. A census is only as honest as its limits, so here they are:

  • Trustpilot caps anonymous pagination at 10 pages (200 reviews) per view. A company with a long history is sampled, not read in full — we can only ever see what that limit allows.
  • Large companies get extra, deliberately biased passes. Of 729,822 reviews harvested, 204,387 came from star-filtered passes that specifically over-sample 1–3★ reviews, against 525,435 from the unbiased, chronological “recent” window. Because of that, headline complaint rates on this site are computed only from the unbiased “recent” window — never from the star-filtered passes, which would inflate them.
  • Positive reviews are logged but not read by the classifier. Of 467,915 4–5★ reviews on file, only 80 have ever been classified — and those are all cases where a reviewer originally wrote a 1–3★ review that got classified, then edited their rating up afterwards. New 4–5★ reviews are never sent to the classifier at all; only 1–3★ reviews are read in detail.
  • Some reviews are deliberately parked, not backlogged. 102,818 reviews are currently marked low-priority because the company they belong to already has both an evidenced complaint category and a computed trend — reading more of the same signal there adds little. That’s a resourcing choice, not a failure state.
  • A company only gets a published report once it clears an evidence bar. We publish a complaint category only when at least two distinct, verified verbatim quotes support it — so thinner companies are deliberately left unindexed rather than given a page built on one quote.

Figures on this page are read directly from the same tables the rest of the site is built on, computed live on each visit. See our method for how reviews get classified, and State of UK Complaints for cross-industry findings.
