About Complaint Census
Star ratings tell you how much people complain. We map what they complain about.
Method
Complaint Census continuously reads publicly available Trustpilot reviews for the companies we track. An automated classifier assigns each negative or mixed review to a fixed taxonomy of failure modes (refund delays, missed deliveries, unreachable support, billing errors and so on). Per company we publish the most-reported categories, their share of all classified complaints, and — where there is enough dated data — whether a category is rising or falling.
Evidence rules
- A complaint category is only shown when backed by verbatim quotes from at least two distinct reviews.
- Trends are computed from dated review counts, never estimated. With too little data we say so.
- Every page states how many reviews were analysed and over what period, and links to the Trustpilot source page.
- We report what reviewers said. We make no findings of fraud, illegality or intent.
